Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

On February 10, 2020, the Board of Supervisors (Board) met with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to perform an evaluation of the CEO’s progress toward attainment of the County and Chief Executive Officer Goals and Objectives adopted in 2019-20 and to establish Goals and Objectives for 2020-21.

 

The Board directed the CEO to present the recommended Goals and Objectives for 2020-21 for Board consideration in an open meeting, allowing an opportunity for public input prior to Board action to accept or amend the 2020-21 Goals and Objectives as submitted (Attachment A). The proposed 2020-21 Goals and Objectives recommended revisions include the addition of the following notable objectives:

                     Create an internal initiative to re-familiarize all staff with the Countywide Vision and its element groups.

                     Support collaborative efforts between the County and its educational partners to encourage student exposure to County career pathways.

                     Improve succession planning through ongoing development programs for County employees and development/maintenance of policies and operational documents to ensure continuity during succession.

 

Once adopted, the Goals and Objectives are the Board’s direction to the organization in terms of priorities for program development and implementation. This direction from the Board will guide development of the 2020-21 County budget and department performance measures and serves as the basis for the Board’s evaluation of the CEO’s performance.
