RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Accept grant award (TEA27-19-0017) from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, in the amount of $600,000, for the period June 30, 2020, through September 30, 2021, for the inspection of waste tire generating businesses and enforcement activities related to the handling and disposal of waste tires.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Acceptance of this grant award will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) and does not require matching funds. Adequate appropriation and revenue to perform this action will be included in Land Use Services Department (LUS) Code Enforcement Division's (Division) 2020-21 Recommended budget and in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On April 3, 2018 (Item No. 22), the Board of Supervisors (Board) adopted Resolution No. 2018-28 (Resolution), authorizing grant applications to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) for waste tire recycling, clean-up and enforcement activities for a period of five years. In accordance with this Resolution, the LUS Division applied for and received an award in the amount of $600,000 from CalRecycle's 2019-20 Local Government Waste Tire Enforcement Grants (TEA27-19-0017) for the period of June 30, 2020 through September 30, 2021.
