Recommendation

Accept donation of one Chevrolet Silverado (Vehicle Identification Number 3GCPYFED7LG270459) for a total value of $50,965 from the City of Big Bear Lake.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). All costs associated with the donated vehicle including insurance, fuel, and maintenance will be funded through the law enforcement services contract with the City of Big Bear Lake (City). Sufficient appropriation and revenue will be included in the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator’s (Department) 2020-21 recommended budget.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Department provides law enforcement services to the City on a contractual basis and is renewed annually. The Department is requesting approval to accept the donation of one Chevrolet Silverado (Chevy) from the City to be used by the Big Bear Lake Patrol Station to tow trailers, specialty equipment, mobile command posts, and boats. The Chevy will remain unmarked for special enforcement programs and will be returned to the City for disposal once its useful life has expired.

 

County Standard Practice 06-01SP requires departments to obtain Board of Supervisor approval of any donation valued over $10,000.
