FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The County will be reimbursed for the direct costs of providing law enforcement services and for various contract administration and overhead costs. The 2020-21 contract amendments for the 14 cities and towns totaling $172,752,489, are detailed on Attachment 1. This amount reflects an increase of $9,245,299 from the previous year, primarily due to negotiated salary increases and changes in service levels requested by the cities of Big Bear Lake, Hesperia, Needles, Victorville, and Yucaipa. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Department’s 2020-21 recommended budget.
The addition of the Sheriff’s Service Specialist position for the City of Needles will be shared with the County in a 90% City and 10% County cost distribution, which will be funded within the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator’s (Department) existing budget allocation, to support operations in the Colorado River area. Approval of the necessary budget adjustments for the additions/deletions referenced below are not requested at this time, but will be included on a future countywide quarterly budget report presented to the Board of Supervisors (Board) for approval, if necessary.
