RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 15-95 A-1 with Graffiti Protective Coatings, Inc., to provide graffiti abatement services, extending the contract two months for a total contract period of February 11, 2015, through August 31, 2020, with no change to the total contract amount.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation is included in the Land Use Services Department (LUS) Code Enforcement Division's 2020-21 budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Code Enforcement Division of LUS is responsible for protecting the public's safety in accordance with County ordinances, including those pertaining to public nuisance conditions, such as graffiti. The most effective way to discourage future acts of graffiti vandalism and the spread of graffiti is by quickly removing existing graffiti. Throughout the County's unincorporated areas, there is a need for timely graffiti abatement of 800 to 1,000 sites per month. LUS does not have staff with the expertise or the equipment to perform graffiti abatement to a high professional standard by color matching the surface that is being painted over. Since 2015, LUS has contracted with Graffiti Protective Coatings, Inc. (GPC), to perform graffiti abatement.
