RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Continue the Emergency Proclamation, originally proclaimed by the Chief Executive Officer, while serving as the Director of Emergency Services, on June 1, 2020 and ratified by the Board of Supervisors on June 2, 2020 resulting from civil unrest commencing on May 30, 2020, which still exists and continues to be a local emergency, for an additional period in accordance with Government Code section 8630(c).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On June 1, 2020, the Chief Executive Officer, while serving as the Director of Emergency Services, proclaimed the existence of a local emergency. This action, which was ratified by the Board of Supervisors (Board) on June 2, 2020 (Item No. 50), was due to civil unrest commencing on May 30, 2020 that resulted in damage, graffiti, looting, and arrests in various locations in the County of San Bernardino. The impacts to public safety and other County departments and personnel from the number and magnitude of such unusual occurrences has been extensive.
