RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Cooperative Agreement with the San Bernardino Council of Governments, in an amount not-to-exceed $12,457 for development of the San Gabriel Mountains Recreation Opportunities Project (Project) through the completion and closeout of the Project or on June 30, 2021, whichever is earlier in time.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost), in an amount not-to-exceed $12,457. Sufficient appropriation has been included in the Department of Public Works (Department) 2020-21 Road Operations budget. The request for Discretionary General Funding is included in the 2020-21 First Quarter Budget Report, presented to the Board of Supervisors (Board) on this date.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
President Barack Obama designated the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument on October 10, 2014. Leaders in San Bernardino County and the U.S Forest Service (USFS) were interested in having discussions with community stakeholders on the management and uses of the portions of the San Gabriel Mountains within San Bernardino County that were excluded from the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. The designation excluded areas including Cucamonga Canyon and Lytle Creek.
