RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 19-720 with Medico Professional Linen Services for the rental of isolation gowns, beginning January 5, 2021, with no changes to contract period of December 1, 2019 through November 30, 2024, increasing the not to exceed amount by $500,000, from $7,500,000 to $8,000,000.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the recommendation with Medico Professional Linen Services (Medico) will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the additional not to exceed amount of $500,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2020-21 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of this recommendation will allow ARMC to rent isolation gowns from Medico, starting January 5, 2021. The gowns are used as protective apparel for health care workers and patients from the transfer of microorganisms and body fluids in patient isolation situations. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for isolation gowns has dramatically increased.
