RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Agreement with Chaffey Joint Union High School District to share office and classroom space, at no cost to the County, for the Probation Department's Focus West Program, for the period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024, with the option to extend the term for two additional one-year periods.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). There is no cost to the Probation Department (Department) for use of the office and classroom space.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Department's Focus West Program (Program) provides education to juveniles on the consequences of negative behavior and holds them accountable for minor law violations while allowing them to remain at home, in the County's West Valley area. Under this program, the Chaffey Joint Union High School District (District) refers juveniles and their parents to counseling and educational classes provided at the Chaffey Adult School in Ontario. A Probation Officer and volunteers provide instruction on the topics of anger management, character and theft accountability, family dynamics, substance abuse, truancy, and weapons diversion, in an effort to help divert at-promise youth from further involvement in the criminal justice system.
