RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Acting as the governing body of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, approve Amendment No. 1 to Employment Contract No. 20-471 with Michael Wakoski as Wildland Program Coordinator, extending the term by one year, from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, with no change in compensation for an estimated cost of $92,864 (Salary - $82,672, Benefits - $10,192).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the need for additional Discretionary General Funding (Net
County Cost) as the cost of this employment contract, which is estimated at $92,864 for 2021-22, will continue to be fully funded by the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCFPD) through its existing revenue sources. Appropriation for this employment contract is included in SBCFPD's 2021-22 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Wildland Program is a valuable resource to SBCFPD as wildland fires have become a year-round reality in San Bernardino County. The Wildland Program helps mitigate these incidents by clearing dried vegetation, creating access routes in remote areas, and establishing fire containment lines during wildland fires, in addition to other emergency response activities.
