Operate in a Fiscally-Responsible and Business-Like Manner.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) is funded by fee revenue. SWMD establishes fees that are charged to the public and other agencies for utilization of the County's Waste Disposal System. It is anticipated that Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, LLC (MMSA) will dispose of up-to 150 tons of biosolids per year. MMSA will be charged the published Gate Rate, plus a Special Handling fee, in accordance with the County's Fee Ordinance. Based on current fees (Gate Rate of $47.25 plus Perchlorate Fee of $0.69 and Special Handling of $53.14, totaling $101.08), this Agreement could generate revenue of up-to $75,810 for SWMD during the five-year contract term. However, the annual tonnage delivered by MMSA may be less than anticipated, and the total revenue will be adjusted accordingly.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This Agreement will allow SWMD to dispose of dried biosolid waste from MMSA's percolation ponds in Mammoth Lakes, California at the Barstow Sanitary Landfill.
