Approve Cooperative Agreement with Town of Apple Valley to contribute $223,000 towards the $4,188,000 estimated total cost to apply chip seal or chip seal and overlay on the pavements of various roads in the Apple Valley area.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The Department of Public Works (Department) is funded by Gas Tax revenue, fee revenue, and other state and local funding. The estimated total cost to apply chip seal or chip seal and overlay on the pavements of various roads in the Apple Valley area (Project) is $4,188,000. The San Bernardino County's (County) share of the Project cost is estimated to be $3,965,000, and will be funded by the Senate Bill 1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) funds. The remaining estimated Project cost of $223,000 will be funded by the Town of Apple Valley (Town). Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Department's 2021-22 Road Operations budget (6650002000 44H15088).

The Department's Road Operations Division intends to utilize its labor force to apply chip seal or chip seal and overlay on the pavements of various roads in the Apple Valley area (see Exhibit "A" attached to the Cooperative Agreement for list of the proposed roads).
