RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Ratify the purchase of an unbudgeted fixed asset in the amount of $110,000, for an Optomap Ultra-Widefield Imaging Device, to facilitate early protection from vision impairment or blindness and early detection of life-threatening diseases like diabetes, stroke, and cardiovascular disease.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Due to a delay in opening the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Fontana Clinic, the Selenia 3D 6000 Package Mammography Machine (Selenia Mammography Machine) in the amount of $400,698 that was approved in the 2020-21 Capital Improvement equipment budget was not purchased. The cost of $110,000 for the Optomap Ultra-Widefield Imaging Device was substituted with the Selenia Mammography Machine. Therefore, there is no additional cost associated with this purchase as sufficient appropriation was included in the ARMC 2020-21 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In May 2021, emergency Purchase Order No. 4100199085 was issued to replace the Optomap Ultra-Widefield Imaging Device (Optos P200DTx) in ARMC's Ophthalmology Clinic. This equipment is used for management of serious eye disease; detection of life-threatening diseases like diabetes, stroke, and cardiovascular disease; and routine eye exams and evaluation.
