Approve non-financial Memorandum of Understanding with California Baptist University for the terms and conditions for training and field experience of student interns provided by the Preschool Services Department, for the period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024.

This item is non-financial in nature and as such, does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The recommended agreement with California Baptist University (CBU) will allow the Preschool Services Department (PSD) to provide training and field experience to interns in the Master of Science Speech-Language Pathology Program at CBU. Through the student internship program, PSD provides learning experiences that will help students receive the skills they need to prosper in the 21st century economy, which aligns with the San Bernardino Countywide Vision2Succeed initiative.

PSD employs qualified professionals who will provide the needed tutelage and guidance to student interns participating in the Speech-Language Pathology Program, where their focus of study is on communication and swallowing disorders, language development, and cognitive issues related to language. Interns will assist in identifying any communication disorders among enrolled children.
