BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The purchase of the O-arm Surgical Imaging System from Medtronic USA, Inc. (Medtronic) will allow ARMC's surgeons to perform more intricate spine, orthopedic and neurological procedures. Visualization is critical during complex, minimally invasive procedures such as brain surgeries. The O-arm is a mobile x-ray system that provides more complete visualization for surgeons through real-time 2D and 3D imaging during operations. The hospital currently has the Medtronic Stealth Surgical Navigation System that provides advanced visualization for neurosurgery procedures, and works with external devices such as the O-arm.

ARMC recommends approval of this purchase to enhance patient care and expand much needed spine, orthopedic trauma and neurological procedure capabilities for the health and welfare of County residents.
