Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Operate in a Fiscally-Responsible and Business-Like Manner.
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the recommendation will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The additional cost of $800,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2021-22 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The amendment will allow the hospital to continue to purchase shunts, catheters and neurological accessories that are compatible with the Stealth Station™ System (System) for minimally invasive spinal, orthopedic and neurological procedures. The System provides advanced visualization to assist with locating anatomical structures for open surgical procedures and surgeries that are performed through the skin.
On November 17, 2020 (Item No. 14), the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. 20-1101 with Medtronic USA, Inc. for the contract period of November 18, 2020 through December 31, 2021, for an amount not-to-exceed $450,000, for the purchase of ventriculoperitoneal shunts, catheters, and neurological accessories that are compatible with the System.
ARMC recommends approval of this amendment as the continued purchase of the products will provide for the safety and health needs of County residents by ensuring that surgeries that require precise anatomy location and probe positioning can be optimally performed.
PROCUREMENT
Purchasing continues to support this non-competitive procurement based on the proprietary nature of the products and their compatibility with the Medtronic Stealth Station™ System.
