Body

COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).  The increased cost of $110,001 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue.  Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2021-22 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

This Amendment No. 2 with UptoDate, Inc. extends the term of the contract to a total contract period of eleven years, which requires Board approval under County Policy 11-04. Extending the term will allow ARMC residents, nurses, and students to continue using the Lexi-Comp database to review updated drug information, including drug identification, drug interactions, dosage calculators, drug reports and comparisons, and patient educational information.  The subscription includes a mobile device interface for access to up-to-date drug information during inpatient and outpatient point of care interaction.

On May 19, 2015, County Purchasing approved and endorsed E-Pro Agreement 165910 with Lexi-Comp for Lexicomp Software Licensing, to become effective December 1, 2015 with a contract amount of $47,319.

On April 8, 2015, Lexi-Comp Inc. changed its name to Wolters Kluwer Clinic Drug Information Inc. Thereafter, effective June 30, 2020, Wolters Kluwer Clinic Drug Information Inc. underwent a line of business reorganization and merged with and into another subsidiary of its parent corporation, UpToDate, Inc. with UpToDate, Inc. as the surviving entity.

On September 18, 2018, County Purchasing approved and endorsed Amendment No. 1 (Contract No. 4400009987) extending the contract term for a period of three years from December 1, 2018 to November 30, 2021, and increasing the contract amount by $53,703, from $47,319 to $101,022.

ARMC recommends approval of this amendment to ensure that residents, nurses, and students continue to have access to drug information and can provide for the safety, health, and social service needs of County residents.

PROCUREMENT

Purchasing continues to approve this non-competitive procurement based on specialized credentials.
