FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Although the actual impact to the County is currently unknown, it is anticipated that this legislation could result in additional funding opportunities to assist with the County's infrastructure needs.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On November 5, 2021, the United States House of Representatives passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This bill was previously passed by the United States Senate, and will now be sent to President Biden for signature.

Specific to California, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will provide funding to support:
* Repair and rebuilding of highways, roads, and bridges.
* Improved sustainable public transportation options.
* Expansion of an electric vehicle charging network throughout the state.
* Broadband internet coverage across the state.
* Preparation of infrastructure to protect against wildfires and cyberattacks.
