Recommendation
Approve non-financial Memorandum of Understanding with San Joaquin Valley College, Inc. for the terms and conditions for training and field experience of student interns provided by the Preschool Services Department, for the period of January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The recommended Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is non-financial in nature and as such, does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The recommended MOU with San Joaquin Valley College, Inc. (SJVC) will allow the Preschool Services Department (PSD) to provide training and field experience to interns in the Registered Nursing Program at SJVC. Through the student internship program, PSD provides learning experiences that will help students receive the skills they need to prosper in the 21st century economy, which aligns with the San Bernardino Countywide Vision2Succeed initiative.

PSD employs qualified professionals who will provide the needed tutelage and guidance to student interns participating in the Registered Nursing Program, where their focus of study is on providing community health education and services. Interns will assist in providing hearing, vision and hemoglobin screenings to PSD enrolled children.
