RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Cooperative Agreement with the City of Twentynine Palms to contribute $144,000 towards the $2,707,000 estimated total pavement preventative maintenance costs which include preparation work and chip seal, or leveling course and chip seal on various roads in the Twentynine Palms area, for the period of January 11, 2022 through December 31, 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The estimated total cost to apply chip seal, or leveling course and chip seal on the pavement of various roads in the Twentynine Palms area (Project) is $2,707,000. San Bernardino County's (County) share of the Project cost is estimated to be $2,563,000, and will be funded by Measure I revenue. The remaining estimated Project cost of $144,000 will be funded by the City of Twentynine Palms (City). Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Department of Public Works (Department) 2021-22 Measure I budget (6650002139 44TX1820).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Department intends to utilize its labor force to conduct pavement preventative maintenance work, which includes preparation work and chip seal or leveling course and chip seal, on the pavement of various roads in the Twentynine Palms area (see Exhibit "A" attached to the Cooperative Agreement for a list of the proposed roads).
