RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Approve the plans and specifications for the West Channel Improvements Project at the Mid-Valley Sanitary Landfill, located in the City of Rialto, as signed and sealed by a registered civil engineer.
2. Authorize the Director of the Department of Public Works to advertise the West Channel Improvements Project at the Mid-Valley Sanitary Landfill, located in the City of Rialto, for formal bids.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). There is minimal financial impact to the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) for approval of the West Channel Improvements Project at the Mid-Valley Sanitary Landfill (Project) plans and specifications and authorization to advertise for competitive bids. The Project will be funded by fee revenue. Sufficient appropriation and revenue have been included in the SWMD 2021-22 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Mid-Valley Sanitary Landfill (MVSL) is located in the City of Rialto, northwest of the intersection of Alder Avenue and State Route 210. The site occupies approximately 448 acres of which 408 acres are permitted for refuse disposal. The site is divided into five separate waste management units.
