RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 4 to Agreement No. 09-429 with Kern County to extend the Agreement through June 30, 2024 for Kern County to accept residential solid waste from the San Bernardino County communities of Four Corners, Red Mountain, and Windy Acres, for disposal at Boron Sanitary Landfill, Ridgecrest Sanitary Landfill, and Randsburg Transfer Station, at a cost of $34,240 for 2022-23 to be adjusted each year based on Kern County's disposal fees.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) is financed by fee revenue. SWMD establishes fees that are charged to the public and other agencies for utilization of the County's Waste Disposal System. The estimated total cost of this two-year Agreement extension is $68,480 ($34,240 annually), subject to future annual disposal fee rate adjustments approved by the Kern County Board of Supervisors. Sufficient appropriation has been included in the SWMD 2022-23 recommended budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
