RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 3, effective July 1, 2022, to Contract No. 14-609 with the Town of Yucca Valley, for the continued provision of animal shelter services in the unincorporated areas of the Morongo Basin region, increasing the amount by $2,154,511, from $2,428,789 to $4,583,300, and extending the term for an additional five years, for the total contract period of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2027.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item may result in the need for additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) in the future. The contract amendment is for $2,154,511 over five years, at an annual average of $430,902. The new amounts are higher than the current year due to animal shelter services cost increases. The cost increases are specific to animal food/bedding, basic veterinary supplies, professional veterinarian services, and an increase in the cost of utilities. The Town of Yucca Valley (Town) submits quarterly invoices based on budgeted costs, less any revenue received for that quarter. At fiscal year-end, the Town submits a fifth invoice to request or remit payment to reconcile San Bernardino County (County) quarterly payments to actual costs. If actual costs exceed the budget threshold, additional Discretionary General Funding will be required, as detailed above.
