RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve non-financial Memorandum of Understanding with Gerismiles Mobile Dental Hygiene, Inc. to provide dental and preventative care services to children enrolled in Head Start programs, for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The recommended Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is non-financial in nature and as such, does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). GeriSmiles Mobile Dental Hygiene Practice, Inc. (GeriSmiles) will seek reimbursement for services through the dental insurance of children treated. Preschool Services Department (PSD) will facilitate referrals to Federally Qualified Health Centers or Department of Public Health facilities providing dental services for children without dental insurance.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
GeriSmiles is a mobile dental service provider for preventative dental treatment and education with the goal of improved oral health. The recommended MOU will allow GeriSmiles to provide mobile dental and preventative care services to children enrolled in PSD Head Start programs. Services will be provided to students' onsite at designated PSD locations to include oral assessment, dental scaling and polishing, fluoride treatment, sealants, and oral health education.
