RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Terminate Employment Contract No. 21-606 and approve new employment contract with Bryant Vargas to continue to provide support services to the Fifth District Supervisor as a Policy Advisor I, effective July 2, 2022, for an estimated annual cost of $87,715.40 (Salary - $50,294.40, Benefits - $37,421).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this employment contract will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the Fifth District's 2022-23 budget to fund the costs related to this employment contract and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter. On August 8, 2021 (Item No. 4), the Board approved Employment Contract No. 21-206 to engage Bryant Vargas to provide support services as a Staff Assistant I for the Fifth District Supervisor, effective August 14, 2021. The recommended employment contract would engage Mr. Vargas as a Policy Advisor I, effective July 2, 2022.

Either party may terminate the contract at any time without cause with a 14-day prior written notice to the other party. The contract may be terminated for just cause immediately by the County.
