RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Memorandum of Understanding with San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, including non-standard terms, to provide support for Safe Schools for All Program through activities related to self-care, social emotional intelligence, and student voice in the amount of $300,000, for the contract period of August 9, 2022 through December 31, 2022.

Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
Pursue County Goals and Objectives by Working with Other Agencies and Stakeholders.
Focus on Recovery and Resiliency Following Major Emergency Responses such as the December 2, 2015 Terrorist Attack (SB Strong) and the Global COVID-19 Pandemic.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Reimbursement made to San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) by the Department of Public Health (DPH) is not to exceed $300,000 and is funded by COVID-19 Assembly Bill (AB) 86 Safe Schools for All (Safe Schools). Adequate appropriation and revenue are included in DPH's 2022-23 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The California Legislature passed AB 86 - a COVID-19 relief package - which included funding for In-Person Instruction (IPI) and Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO). Governor Newsom signed AB 86 into law on March 5, 2021.
