RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve non-financial Memorandum of Understanding with Azusa Pacific University, including non-standard terms, for training and field experience for students in the nursing student internship program for the period of August 10, 2022 through July 31, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The recommended Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is non-financial in nature and as such, does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The recommended MOU with Azusa Pacific University (APU) will allow the Preschool Services Department (PSD) to provide training and field experience to interns in the Nursing program at APU. Through the student internship program, PSD provides learning experiences that provide student interns with the skills they need to prosper in the twenty-first century economy, which aligns with the San Bernardino Countywide Vision2Succeed initiative.

PSD employs qualified professionals who will provide the needed tutelage and guidance to student interns participating in the Nursing Program, where the focus of study is on community health education and services. Interns will assist in providing hearing, vision, and hemoglobin screenings to PSD enrolled children. The interns will also provide parent education classes in areas such as chronic health conditions and reducing the spread of communicable diseases.
