RECOMMENDATION(S)

Recommendation

Adopt Ordinance to submit to the qualified electors at the November 8, 2022 election an advisory vote only measure on pursuing San Bernardino County’s fair share of state funding, up to and including secession from the State of California, which was introduced on August 3, 2022, Item No. 1.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There could potentially be the need for Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).  Future estimated costs, if any, will be determined based on the direction provided by the Board of Supervisors (Board).

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Based on input from the public, the Board is considering an item to place on the November 8, 2022 ballot, an advisory vote only measure asking if the citizens of the county want the Board to study and advocate for all options to obtain the County’s fair share of state funding, up to and including secession from the State of California.

 

Approval of this item would adopt the ordinance relating to the placement of a ballot measure for the November 8, 2022 election.  The ordinance becomes effective immediately upon adoption.
