Recommendation
Approve Cooperative Agreement with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority/San Bernardino Council of Governments, for development of the San Gabriel Mountains Recreation Opportunities Project through completion and closeout of the project or June 30, 2023, whichever occurs first.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Fund revenue. During 2020-21, the Department of Public Works (Department) received a one-time General Fund allocation of $12,457 for the San Gabriel Mountains Recreation Opportunities Project, of which $957 was expensed during the contract period. The remaining funds available in reserves will be used to fund the new contract term. Sufficient appropriation is included in the Department's 2022-23 Road Operations budget (6650002000 H15103).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
President Barack Obama designated the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument on October 10, 2014. San Bernardino County (County) and the United States Forest Service (USFS) were interested in having discussions with community stakeholders on the management and uses of the portions of the San Gabriel Mountains within the County that were excluded from the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
