Parking Restrictions for Commercial Vehicles on Grand Avenue in the Chino Area

RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution that:
1. Establishes a "No Parking" zone of commercial vehicles having a gross vehicle weight rating exceeding 10,000 pounds, pursuant to County Code Section 52.0128(a), on both sides of Grand Avenue from East End Avenue to Ramona Avenue in Chino area, except for the portion maintained by the City of Chino.
2. Directs the County Road Commissioner to erect and maintain signs indicating such prohibition and to perform such acts as are necessary to implement the terms of the Resolution.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the estimated cost of $2,000 to install the appropriate signs, as well as minor administrative costs to update the Department of Public Works (Department) records, will be financed by Gas Tax revenue. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Department's 2022-23 Road Operations budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In response to a request from the public, the Department conducted a traffic engineering investigation regarding the commercial vehicles parking along Grand Avenue in the Chino area. The investigation found that commercial vehicles were stopping and parking on Grand Avenue causing view obstructions for drivers along both sides of the road from East End Avenue to Ramona Avenue.
