FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the affiliation agreement with Veritas Health Services, LLC dba Chino Valley Medical Center (CVMC) is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This non-financial resident affiliation agreement will allow CVMC resident physicians to obtain pediatric clinical experience at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC). Clinical experience is a requirement for pediatric resident programs. This pediatric resident affiliation agreement enables ARMC to work in collaboration with CVMC to provide a well-rounded education program for the CVMC pediatric resident physicians and provides for the health and social service needs of County residents by ensuring that ARMC patients receive quality specialized pediatric medical care.
Resident physician programs have specific requirements as to the numbers and types of patients to whom a resident physician must provide care. To meet these requirements, with respect to volume and type of patients, it is necessary for CVMC to provide educational opportunities at other facilities, such as ARMC, to supplement those available at CVMC.
ARMC offers the opportunity for these resident physicians to gain experience caring for patients and performing procedures CVMC may not offer or have too few patients to provide appropriate experience. The volume and patient mix at ARMC will provide an appropriate educational opportunity to the CVMC resident physicians. There will be one monthly visiting resident at a time, with twelve residents rotating annually at ARMC.
The resident affiliation agreement may be terminated, with or without cause, by either party at any time after giving the other party 30 days advance written notice.
PROCUREMENT
