Recommendation
Approve retroactive out-of-country travel request for Vice Chair and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe and Third District Chief of Staff Claire Cozad, to travel to Taiwan, China from November 10, 2022, to November 17, 2022, to participate in the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative Symposium held by Sister City, Taoyuan City, the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On January 24, 2017 (Item No. 71), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved a Sister City Agreement with Taoyuan City Government, Taoyuan City, the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Sister City Agreement's purpose was to establish collaborative relationships for the advancement of international trade-related economic development programs and services within the County.

Approval of this request will allow the Vice Chair and Third District Chief of Staff to travel to Taoyuan City, the Republic of China (Taiwan), to represent the Board and the County in the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative Symposium held by Sister City, Taoyuan City to continue strengthening collaborative relationships. Additionally, the Vice Chair will be a panelist at the forum, discussing United States Public Policy and Best Practices on Promoting International Education.
