Recommendation
Approve and authorize the submission of a grant application to the California Department of Social Services for the General Child Care and Development Program, in the amount of $3,254,472, for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The funding application in the amount of $3,254,472 to the California Department of Social Services (State) for the General Child Care and Development Program (CCTR) does not require a match.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Preschool Services Department (PSD) will use the CCTR grant funds to expand the provision of education, health, cognitive, social/emotional, physical growth and development, and parent involvement services for children ages 0 to 3, as well as referrals to health and social services for families, and staff development opportunities to employees. The services cover full-day childcare and programs that include identification of mental health or disabilities needs, family engagement, and engagement with community programs and services. These services will address the lack of affordable infant and toddler care, thereby assisting low-income families by removing an obstacle to adults' working full-time.
