RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Accept allocation in the amount of $1,347,296.63 from the State of California (Assembly Bill 178), for the Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant program, to support the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator's improvement of officer wellness and expansion of mental health resources.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The $1,347,296.63 allocation from the State of California Assembly Bill (AB) 178, through the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), provides funding for the Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant (Grant) program for the purpose of improving officer wellness and expanding mental health resources. The grant period is from July 1, 2022 through December 1, 2025. No matching funds are required. This revenue will be included in the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator's (Department') 2023-24 Recommended budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On December 21, 2022, the Department was notified of funding availability for the Grant program. No application was required to be considered for this funding opportunity. The Grant funding is limited to agencies employing officers as described in Penal Code section 830.1.
