FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $80,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2022-23 budget and will be included in 2023-24 recommended budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The recommended Consignment Agreement (Agreement) with Alcon Vision (Alcon) will allow for the use of the Clareon Intraocular Lens (IOL) used for cataract surgeries performed at ARMC. The Clareon IOL is an automated, disposable, pre-loaded IOL delivery system that enables the surgeon to precisely implant the IOL into patients undergoing cataract surgery.

The Clareon IOL will replace the current Alcon lens delivery system used by ARMC, which is being discontinued by Alcon after 20 years of use. It is necessary to keep an inventory of IOLs on hand so that the ophthalmologic surgeon has the ability to utilize the most clinicall...
