Recommendation
Approve the purchase of one NSS Wrangler 2625 Automatic Scrubber in the amount of $11,000 as an unbudgeted fixed asset to support the Regional Occupational Program, Custodial Program at West Valley Detention Center.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The estimated total cost of the NSS Wrangler 2625 Automatic Scrubber (Scrubber) is $11,000 and will be funded by the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator's (Department) Inmate Welfare Fund (4420005167), as approved by the Inmate Welfare Committee on September 29, 2021. The Inmate Welfare Fund is separate from the Department's annual operating budget and, as such, expenditures related to this program are not included in the County's budget. Penal Code Section 4025(e) gives the Sheriff, operating through the Inmate Welfare Fund Committee, discretion over how funds are expended from the Inmate Welfare Fund.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Department is requesting authorization to purchase one Scrubber to be used in custodial operations at the West Valley Detention Center (WVDC) to replace a worn out, non-repairable piece of equipment. The custodial operations are in support of the Regional Occupational Program (Program), under the direct supervision of the Program instructor and Sheriff's Custody Specialists from Support Services at WVDC.
