RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Accept and approve grant award from the California Department of Food and Agriculture for the 2023 Prevention of Animal Homelessness and Cruelty Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund Grant to support the San Bernardino County spay/neuter voucher program for residents who own cats in unincorporated areas, in the amount of $7,500, for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
2. Accept a donation from the Animal aRe First Fund, in the amount of $7,500, for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024, for spay/neuter vouchers to reduce the cost for residents in unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County to spay or neuter their cats.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The grant award in the amount of $7,500 from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for the 2023 Prevention of Animal Homelessness and Cruelty Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund Grant (Grant) does not require a local match. The Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF) has committed to donating $7,500 to supplement the spay/neuter voucher program. Adequate appropriation and revenue will be included in the Department of Public Health's (DPH) 2023-24 recommended budget.
