Declare Hughes 369E Helicopter as Surplus and Authorize Sale

RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Declare the 1985 Hughes 369E Helicopter, Serial No. 0037E (Registration No. N808SB), Equipment No. 255846, which is fully depreciated, as surplus fixed asset equipment that no longer meets the County's needs.
2. Authorize the Purchasing Agent to conduct a surplus sale or utilize an aircraft broker to determine a fair market value and sell the fixed asset referenced in Recommendation No. 1.
3. Authorize the Purchasing Agent to deposit the proceeds from the sale of the fixed asset referenced in Recommendation No. 1 to the County's Asset Replacement Reserve.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Purchasing Agent will deposit the proceeds from the sale of the fully depreciated helicopter, depending on the actual selling price, into the County's Asset Replacement Reserve.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Sheriff's Aviation Division currently operates six Airbus H125 (Astar) helicopters and three Bell medium helicopters. These helicopters perform firefighting, patrol, search and rescue, and specialized law enforcement missions throughout the County and surrounding areas, including partner agencies.
On November 28, 1995 (Item No. 21), the Board of Supervisors (Board) declared as surplus and approved the transfer of five helicopters previously received from the Federal Excess Property Disposal System to Arrow Falcon Exporters, Inc.
