RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve and authorize the submission of Phase 1 grant application documents to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, in the amount of $1,914,222, for the Service Area Competition under the Health Center Program for continued operational support of the Department of Public Health's Federally Qualified Health Centers located in the High Desert and Valley Regions, for the grant period of March 1, 2020 through February 28, 2023.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The United States Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) does not require a match for the Service Area Competition.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Department of Public Health (DPH) receives annual funding from HRSA to provide a variety of services to San Bernardino County residents. Under the Health Center Program, HRSA provides operational support for DPH's four Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) located in Adelanto, Hesperia, Ontario, and San Bernardino. DPH will use the Service Area Competition grant funding to continue providing enhanced health care services in the High Desert and Valley communities including primary care, maternal health, pediatric care, colposcopy, HIV care and treatment, reproductive health...
