FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The total cost of $377,640 for specified rapid infuser is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Approval of the necessary budget adjustments for this equipment purchase in the amount of $377,640 to Arrowhead Regional Medical Cener's (ARMC) 2019-20 budget is not requested at this time, but will be included in a future quarterly countywide budget report presented to the Board of Supervisors for approval.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of this item will allow ARMC to purchase the twelve (12) Belmont Rapid Infusers (infusers), a device to perform fluid resuscitation in critical patients. Currently, ARMC uses infusers in the trauma department, the emergency room and operating theater for large volume resuscitation with blood products. The current model infusers were purchased in 2006, reached full depreciation in 2016, and are no longer supported by the manufacturer.
