RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No .1 to Agreement with Becton, Dickinson and Company increasing the contract amount by $44,640 from $92,148 to $136,788 to provide reagents, supplies and rental services of the SurePath Processor and extend the term by one year for a total contract term of April 17, 2018 to April 16, 2021.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this recommendation will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the increased cost of $44,640 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2019-20 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of the recommendation will provide for the safety, health and social service needs of County residents through the continued use of the Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) SurePath Processor to process pap smears and non-gynecological specimens for timely analysis and result reporting. Through the SurePath Processor, including instrument service, supplies and reagents, ARMC maintains patient specimen processing continuity in the Pathology Department.
