RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Adopt Resolution to establish a multi-way stop at the intersection of Cactus Avenue and Santa Ana Avenue, in the Bloomington area pursuant to County Code Section 52.0111(a).
2. Direct the County Road Commissioner to perform such acts as necessary to implement the terms of the Resolution.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The proposed Resolution will not result in significant costs to the Department of Public Works (Department). Minor administrative costs to update the Department of Public Works' (Department) records and post appropriate signage will be funded by Gas Tax revenue. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Department's 2021-22 Road Operations budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Subsequent to receiving resident concerns, the Department conducted a traffic engineering investigation to evaluate the need for multi-way stop controls (four-way stop) at the intersection of Cactus Avenue and Santa Ana Avenue in the Bloomington area. Per the County Maintained Road System (CMRS), Cactus Avenue is a collector street and Santa Ana Avenue is a secondary highway. Both streets have two lanes, one lane for each direction. There is an existing two-way stop control on Cactus Avenue, at Santa Ana Avenue. The study identified accidents and traffic volumes to warrant a multi-way stop at this location.
