RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Acting as the governing body of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District:
1. Approve Grant Subaward with the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services that accepts an allocation of funds appropriated by the State Budget Act of 2021, Senate Bill 129, in the amount of $12,000,000 for the Yucca Valley Fire Station.
2. Authorize the Chairman of the Board of Directors to sign the Grant Subaward.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) will allocate $12,000,000, as appropriated by the State Budget Act of 2021, to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCFPD) for replacement of the Yucca Valley Fire Station. This project and the related budget adjustments have been included in the 2021-22 First Quarter Budget Report for approval by the Board of Directors.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
SBCFPD provides fire, emergency medical response, and rescue services for the Town of Yucca Valley and neighboring communities. The current Yucca Valley Fire Station was built in 1959 as a volunteer station.
